Adele, Emily Goodman and I were buddies in junior high. A sweeter person than Adele did not exist. She and Em played flute. One summer, I listened as the two of them practiced "Stars and Stripes Forever," each hoping to be given the piccolo solo - or perhaps a duet. Never, since then, can I not think of my dear departed friends and sing along with Stars and Stripes Forever. They will play for me for the rest of my life, and I miss them both very often. Adele's daughter, Lisa, remains one of my daughter's dearest friends. What a legacy!
